It's more than time
Time we gave you an up-date on our STRIVING to be plastic-free initiative.
For some time we have been asking local businesses to consider the way their businesses practices affect the environment. It’s nothing complicated, it’s just a matter of taking time to look at every aspect of their business and ask whether it could be done in a different way, using different materials, offering different services, using less of the planet’s finite resources and causing less waste.
The responses have been good and it is very cheering to have been thanked by people for giving them a nudge to reassess how they do things. We’ve been asking things like what materials are involved in your business, could you use a refill system, do you encourage your customers to be environmentally considerate? Here is a list of those with a STRIVING badge so far. (Look for the badge in their premises next time you are there). We are delighted to have been a part of reducing waste and carbon footprint of these businesses and there are more in the pipeline. They deserve our support.

Not so brief - Bamboo Turtle was born out of a desire to offer a more sustainable, hopefully more ethical and most definitely a more environmentally friendly way of shopping. We actively encourage the re use of old containers, thereby helping to eliminate single use packaging. We offer a wide range of products; household liquids, hair products, dried foods, kitchen sponges/brushes, chocolates etc.
So how does the shop work
In brief (there is no long version as it's that easy) - Weigh your container, fill your container, we'll re weigh the container at the till. It's that easy!! We're always happy to help with any dispensing of products or weighing of containers as appreciate the first time with us can be daunting.
We do our level best to source the most ethically produced items which have had as little impact on the environment as possible.
